Lucy Brown & Benefit: Store Approval

I promised I would keep you in touch with my Benefit adventure. I apologise it’s been a long time since my previous Lucy Brown & Benefit Posts: Lucy Brown & Benefit, The Recruitment Event and The Interview. I have been very busy with my am dram actress adventure playing Vera in Willy Russell’s Breezeblock Park. The demanding rehearsal and performance schedule also delayed my progress to becoming a fully fledged Benebabe.

On Friday I am going for my third attempt at store approval at the Trafford Centre please keep your fingers crossed for me that I will be third time lucky. I don’t know much about this vacancy but I understand it is temporary for the Christmas period. I am hoping if I am successful it will lead to a permanent post in the future.

My previous two attempts at store approval sadly proved unsuccessful.

On 22nd August, just three days after my interview. I went to Boots at Middlebrook retail park. However unfortunately my prior commitment to playing Vera meant I was unable to work Thursdays or Sundays which were a requirement. I was surprised that I had been put forward for this vacancy as I had already explained about my rehearsal commitments. I also found out my favourite uncle died straight after this interview:-(

On 2nd September I went to House of Fraser in Manchester City Centre. I absolutely loved my stint ‘Traffic Stopping’ in this store. I also managed to sell four products in an hour which I felt was pretty impressive prior to training. However a few days later I finally discovered I’d unfortunately been unsuccessful as they preferred one of the other candidates as she would ‘blend better with the existing team members’. I wondered if my being older at 39 may have contributed to this perception. I also reflected that the fact that I was 100% focussed on my customers, and the resulting sales, meant that I neglected to socialise sufficiently with the rest of the team and this may have also put me at a disadvantage.

I subsequently suggested to the person who recruited me that we should wait until the play had finished before putting me forward to any further stores. This is because when they enquire when I’m available to work? I want to be able to reply with a willing ‘when do you need me?’. Wish me luck testing this theory out on Friday!

Extra… Extra… the online profile

You may be curious how my adventure as a background artist signed to Industry Casting is taking shape…

After being registered with the agency on 16th August the next stage was the photoshoot for their website. However Industry have to adhere to allowing a 30 day cooling off period before they can create your online profile. This means they do not arrange for your photographs to be taken for this profile until 30 days have passed from your initial registration.

On Sunday 18th September I had the necessary portrait shots taken.

I am really pleased with my online profile and both the pictures they have chosen. When I get organised I will send a disk to Industry and they will provide me with a copy of all the shots from my photoshoot.

I have still not been offered any bookings. I believe this is partly due to the obligatory cooling off period and also because my availability has been limited mainly due to my am dram adventure.

I am hoping that now my profile is online and my time is less restricted my adventure as an Extra will now get some wings… I will of course keep you posted…

Thanks to Zazzle for their tee shirt image above please check out their website to help me say thank-you.

Extra… Extra… the Photoshoot

You may be wondering how my adventure as a background artist signed to Industry Casting is progressing…

However Industry have to adhere to allowing a 30 day cooling off period before they can create your online profile. This means they do not arrange for your photographs to be taken for this profile until 30 days have passed from your initial registration.

On Sunday I finally went to have the necessary portrait shots taken. As I am unaccustomed to posing for studio portrait shots I felt quite self-conscious. The photographer seemed well practised at giving direction which was just as well because I didn’t have a clue. I don’t like smiling on photos as I think I can look a bit goofy. But the photographer cajoled me into to some smiley shots by asking me to say ‘hi’.

I am curious to see what the pictures look like and which two pictures Industry choose for my web profile page. If I send a disk to Industry they will provide me with a copy of all the shots.

As I have not you been offered any bookings I am hoping once my profile goes online that my adventure as an Extra will finally start to unfold… I will keep you posted…

Lucy Loves: Ciate

I really don’t understand why Ciate are finding it so hard to reach their goal of 1500 likers on their Facebook Page. After all there is the incentive of four prizes of 2 of their fabulous paint pots.

Not only do these paint pots look super glam on your dressing table the nail polish is lush and somehow seems to feed your nails with goodness.

I was vaguely aware of Ciate’s look but I’d never tried the product until I was fortunate enough to receive their Beach Melba paint pot in my July Glossy Box. After trying out the polish I realised that Ciate paint pots are ‘not just a pretty face’ and the quality of the product inside is equally impressive.

I am utterly smitten with Ciate. If you also love this brand or even if this short blog has got your interest pop over to their Facebook Page click like and you may even be one of the lucky four who win’s a prize! Let me know if you do, won’t you?

What do you think of Ciate?
